Carla Cilvik's love of writing began as a child and she allowed that passion to carry her throughout her life, eventually guiding her to obtain a BA degree in English from Clarion University, PA. After graduating in 2014, she decided to stay the course, and become a freelance editor and proofreader. She’s had the privilege of working with writers from all over the world to help them release their artistic visions into the world. She then carried the creative torch, and self-published her first poetry collection, Sanctity of Season in 2017.
More consistent writing ensued which led her to her second collection of poems published in 2025 titled I Am, You Are, Part of It All. She is proud to have that book published under Pennington Press, a division of Hydra Publications.
Carla lives with her fiancé, archaeologist, and massage therapist/reiki master David Gutkowski, and an abundance of cats in their mountain home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. From their personal Walden, they enjoy bonding with the ever-present wildlife. Deer, black bears, racoons, birds, possums, coyotes, and foxes like to stop by to say hi.
